We are the strong the silent ones.
We stay behind to keep the house going.
Being the mommy and daddy all in one.
While our spouse is far from home.

We may be the wife left behind again for the third time.
Or the husband that stays behind while his wife risk her life.

We are all the same. standing by the phone, waiting for that call.
Checking the mail in hopes for a letter.
Telling the children mommy or daddy will be home soon.
They think about you, even though they are so far away.
To young to understand, why they left for work and are not home.

we are the strong the independent ones.
We sleep for months alone in a big empty bed.
wishing for our spouse to be there.
to feel the warmth of their body next to us.

we are the strong, we are the few.
we are MILITARY SPOUSES

Be strong & safe

You are strong but be safe, so he has something good to come home to.---Here's a story that just happ[en here. The wife goes to a picnic, a drunk man offers her and her two sons & a friend, a ride on the boat and nobody's wearing a life jacket. He spins all over the place, finally flipping the boat in the high flowing cold river. Both boys drown, encluding a friend. She manages to hang on to the boat as well as the drunk man. They must tell the husband in Irag to come home. So be strong, yet be safe for him to come home to something good. Thanks for your poem. Nice!
