Maybe That's All You Know
19 June, 2008
Author: Kia
You have to stop listening
to them
they want you to be
who they want you to be
and pretty soon
you'll stop showing yourself
you won't have a yourself
because they've made you
into something else
you won't stop putting on a show
about what they expect of you
Maybe you're trying to protect what's inside
what makes you special
scared that they'll try to change it
that they'll get too close
Maybe that's all you know
You're just making up your mind
on what people will say
you're dead
where you should be most alive
And you can't run away
from the expectations
and no one wants you to die
There's something missing inside of you
and that's why you're so stuck
and no one will ever understand you
They'll just twist your words
and ideas
and thoughts
to fit their image
even when you're dead
you'll still be playing roles for them
but you'll always be
desperate
disguised
serious
alone...
Maybe that's all you know
