Perfection And Rejection
9 July, 2008
Author: Nicole Ricketts
Started when I was just a young girl of five
You left me all alone to grow without a father
I didn’t know how I was going to survive
I’m sorry if I was a bother
I wondered for years where you were
On birthdays and holidays
I could remember bits of you but it was all a blur
My mom had nothing to say
Why can’t you be there for me? Just tell me why?
Will I ever be good enough for you?
Sometimes I use to want to die
I don’t know what to do; I just want to please you
So because of my imperfections
All I get is rejection
Can’t you see that I love you?
One day you felt guilty when you were expecting another mistake
I was living in hell and you promised me something more
After all these years alone I didn’t know how much more I could take
My heart was broken and sore
I should have known you didn’t know what you were doing
You demanded perfection when all I could do was my best
I don’t understand why you couldn’t love me you weren’t even trying
I have given all I can give and now I’m left depressed
Why can’t you be there for me? Just tell me why?
Will I ever be good enough for you?
Sometimes I use to want to die
I don’t know what to do; I just want to please you
So because of my imperfections
All I get is rejection
Can’t you see that I love you?
Such a bad father of one, why two more
Now you tell us all you love us just the same
But with them its love and with me its still a war
I am tired of taking all the blame
For all of your stupid mistakes including me
Sadly, you can’t pick your parents but I guess they can pick you
You picked favorites can’t you see?
I love you just as much as they do
Why can’t you be there for me? Just tell me why?
Will I ever be good enough for you?
Sometimes I use to want to die
I don’t know what to do; I just want to please you
So because of my imperfections
All I get is rejection
Can’t you see that I love you?
I hate you, why can’t you love me like you love them, why?
Why can’t you be there for me? Just tell me why?
Will I ever be good enough for you?
Sometimes I use to want to die
I don’t know what to do; I just want to please you
So because of my imperfections
All I get is rejection
Can’t you see that I love you?
I love you
