Another Time And Place
20 July, 2008
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
I walked beneath your window
so that you might see me there
Love forbid to us by consequences
I glance at you from time to time above me
watching as I pass. Ne're you say a word
Nor I...For our secret must remain
Our promise undaunted by hardship
to remain in our place for family sake
sacrificing ourselves for sakes of state.
Silently, I love you still
I long for what is not ours to have
and go through the motions that I must
How much longer must we wait
For a time that will be ours alone
I steal away into the night looking to the moon
passing a thought to you with a wish
I can only hope you feel its power
and you too look upon it wanting more
As I walk once again beneath your window
feeling your eyes watching me
I pause.. holding to a moment that will be ours
When you will not have to look away
But will run to me in love's embrace
And together we will walk away
