An Empty Glass
30 July, 2008
Author: Catyrose
Time after time
I return to find
Not much has changed
A mere substance holds feelings at bay
Or may cause all hell to break loose on any given day
Sadness overtakes me
It is far too late in life
For happy endings to occur
Still longing for a place in this family
Too belong, at the very least to simply get along
Unless I choose to imbibe
I'm left out in the cold
Or swept aside
As glass after glass is drained
Familial relationships become ever so strained
Words spoken in anger
Do hit their mark
One more wound has been inflicted
That I'll not expect to heal
Walking away silently, refusing to express what I honestly feel

Bipedalguy (65.96.237.196) -- Wednesday, July 30 2008, 04:12 pm It's sad when a family is torn asunder by liquids, whether in the form of a flood, or in a glass. Unfortunately I've seen it, and it's lead to early death. It seems unnecessary, but it's also very hard to reclaim a loved one from alchohol addiction. I wish I knew the answer, if there is one. You did a fine job of expressing the situation in your poem. Be Well, and keep writing. Bipe |

But... very well expressed and written. this is a tough subject , especially when Loved ones become Strangers through any form of chemical dependency ,it becomes a family disease that can destroy the closest knit families , it is traumatic and it covers family members with great sadness. one has to hit rock bottom before they realize that there is a problem. all one can do is Pray that they seek the necessary measures for help before they become another statistic. its great to read you again..God Bless!
