Distance Is The Demon In Me

Every week feels like a year
Everyday I shed a tear
Far from home and I can't go back
Not for a while can I pack

Pack up and leave this new place
Where no one recognizes my face
I know this was my choice
But I feel as though I am losing my voice

I just want to go home
Where everything makes sense
In my mind and in my heart
Distance is the demon in me
Turning my smile upside down
Making my heart ache at night
Distance is the demon in me
Oh, please leave and let me be

My tears are running out
being alone is all I think about
No one can make up for the family I miss
My heart is dying in the abyss

Fear is a punishment from hell
And I just want to yell
Love is a gift from the one and only
With him you can never be too lonely

I just want to go home
Where everything makes sense
In my mind and in my heart
Distance is the demon in me
Turning my smile upside down
Making my heart ache at night
Distance is the demon in me
Oh, please leave and let me be

Everyone is growing apart
Why can't it be like old times
Everyone was there to hug
no fears, no tears, just love at home.

I just want to go home
Where everything makes sense
In my mind and in my heart
Distance is the demon in me
Turning my smile upside down
Making my heart ache at night
Distance is the demon in me
Oh, please leave and let me be

------- Author's Notes -------

This is a song I just wrote because I recently moved from California to Massachusetts to go to college. I miss my family so much so I wrote this song to help me cope with the distance.
