vinebar

you walk away
but she has nowhere to go

for too short a time
you were important to each other
and now you act as if
you don't know who she is

she is the one you held
she is the one who trusted you
she is the one who gave you everything
she is the one who loved you

and now she learns
she didn't know you at all

you are the one who made promises to her
you are the one she thought was right
you are the one who violated her trust
you are the one who deceived her
you are the one who has gone away

she is the one who is alone now
except she is not alone
she has your child growing inside her

for her, with you by her side, a joy
for her, alone, a burden
an innocent life wating to be born

while you turn your back on her pain
while you turn your back on her fears
while you turn your back on your responsibilities

she is the one who must face the coming times alone
she is the one who must face her family and friends
she is the one who will be judged
she is the one who will be forever emotionally scarred
she is the one without answers

the piper is waiting to be paid...
