A Peachy Limerick
14 September, 2008
Author: Bipedalguy
It says “Tree ripened” “Ready to eat”.
You believe these peaches will taste sweet.
So you take a few home,
and they taste like dry foam.
Now you know that your grocer’s a cheat.
------- Author's Notes -------
There's nothing better tasting than a good peach, but where do you find a good one? There are lots of foam balls at the grocery that they call peaches, but when you get them home, after paying a high price, they go into the dumper. I once had a peach tree which was great. (still not to be compared with good Georgia peaches). I'm a Cape Codder. |

shiloh (74.65.121.49) -- Friday, September 19 2008, 07:15 am I remember well the peaches and other good tastes from childhood, but no more, unless, as you say, you find a good roadside stand. Peaces are usually the first to sell out, however. I see you are always full of surprises - the buffalo near Montague on PEI are beautiful animals, are they not? Keep writing, bipe - and we will all keep reading. Perhaps a short poem about PEI? It doesn't always have to be a limerick, you know. |

I'll see what I can do with that. Shiloh, I broke my resolution, and bought 3 peaches yesterday. (at a store where I have never bought a peach before.) The sign said "Guaranteed ready to eat". I had never seen the word "Guaranteed" on a peach promotion sign. I have eaten 2 of the 3 peaches. They weren't bad. I may try 'em again. I wrote you an e-mail re the following. What's this about Buffalo on PEI? I've never seen one in the wild or in captivity on PEI. Have you seen them on the island? (near Montague) Be well my poet friends. Don aka Bipedalguy |
