A Buddhist Parable

Author: Puppet
One day, a Buddhist pupil is walking down a dirt road,
scratching his head and trying to understand the nature of enlightenment.
He comes upon a Tibetan Grand Monk.
What is enlightenment? Asks the pupil.
The Tibetan Monk says, It is absolute being,
where wanting and thirst is totally quenched.
Unsatisfied, the pupil goes away.
He comes upon an Indian Grand Monk.
What is enlightenment? Asks the pupil.
The Indian Monk says, It is purity of soul, purity of body, purity of mind.
Still confused, the pupil continues walking.
He comes upon a Japanese Grand Monk.
What is enlightenment? The pupil asks.
The Japanese Monk says nothing, and smashes his cane into the pupil’s balls.
The pupil screams, vomits, cries, vomits again, cries harder, then smiles.
Oh, I see now, he says.
Then he goes away and years later becomes a Grand Monk himself.

This is purely humorous. If you try to read something deep into this, you're a menace to society. |
