Lonesome

I yearned for a love unknown,
Forgetting the litanies of teenage crush,
With a heavy heart and soul forlorn,
I journeyed through the University rush.

I admit I've been a coward,
Avoiding women beauteous and fair,
Safe from youthful adventures of the heart,
Alone, I live in rueful despair.
