Today...

Today is Veteran's Day,
and I wonder if anyone in my family
will say anything to me about it.
My family always wishes me a good day
on my birthday,
and I get a card or two,
and on our wedding anniversary
my wife and I get a card,
sometimes more,
and maybe a phone call.
On Father's Day all of my boys
at least call,
and my wife gives me a card.
Being remembered at these times of the year,
even fleetingly,
is nice...
but for some reason I'm wondering
if they will say anything to me today...
Maybe it's because I'm getting older,
maybe I have too much time to remember...
but maybe they will mention to me
that they understand,
and appreciate what this day means
to all of us.
