Inauguration Day
21 January, 2009
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
The celebration begins
A welcoming in of a new president
Welcoming him in the millions
Americans in record numbers attend
Music of all types share in the rejoicing
A language all can understand
Poets and ministers speak
All together this day of new beginning
Hope reapplied to the people
Reminders of our pasts
New history in the making
Promises to lead with peace and dignity
From the generations that remember
To generations no longer bound
Walking together in equality
All a nation of unity and freedom
Opportunities for all
May we not forget what was
But remember history never to repeat
One man had a dream
And now one man lives it
A true dreamer's reality
