The Blues: Poems 1 To 5
13 February, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
Humanity is in need of a daily caress
when apathy is prevalent and couldn't care less
that guardian angels also deal with the stress
of trying to sort out this entire mess!
--
Of this existential pain in which you're prone
you try to verbalize but can only moan
when surrounded by people and still feel alone
because everyone is glued to their cellphone!
--
It's hard to joke or crack a smile
but you have joined the rank and file
of which, my friend, there's no denial.
An obituary picture can cramp your style!
--
The little toy soldier stares into space
dreaming of guard duty and a child's embrace
but without a bar code there's impending doom
on a lonely shelve in this storage room.
--
He won't be coming home tonight
or returning with the broad daylight.
Her son has been missing for several years.
Whistler's Mother sits and wipes her tears.
