Strange Tales: Poems 1 To 5
18 February, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
The ceiling is low and the ventilation is poor.
The myth has been destroyed so nothing is sure
as you can wish all you want and rub that lamp
but the genie is drunk and nursing a cramp!
--
Their ineptitude of labour was hard to beat
but the shoemaker and his elves shared that feat
and as a consumer recall it warranted a repeat
with row upon row of two left feet!
--
A String Quartet but now there's three
because the viola player failed to see
the traffic circle is not a safe place
in order to serenade the human race!
--
There's subversion of the rank and file.
Mona Lisa has lost her sense of style
with the insidious removal of her smile.
To have order restored may take awhile!
--
Although the calliope never fails to enthrall
the Big Top is so low they'll have to crawl
and the entry of the gladiators cannot stall
the masquerade of the clowns from their pall.
