The Growing Years: Poems 1 To 5
20 February, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
Life goes downhill after leaving the chair.
It was a lofty position and yours to declare
but you've fallen from grace and can only stare
at your baby sister sitting up there!
--
Trials and tribulations do not cross his mind
and he has a purity that's one of a kind
but such austere beauty will become an adult regret
in a world this sleeping baby hasn't met.
--
Behind this door he's trouble bound
and frankly a nuisance to have around.
Strident and merciless is his wailing sound
as a child unclaimed at Lost and Found!
--
Their subversive tendencies would integrate
when they covered each other with fingerpaint
and the sinner came early to conquer the saint
as the kindergarten teacher began to faint!
--
The young cowboy rode on his faithful horse.
He conquered this trail with unbeatable force.
Possessing an outlaw spirit he'll never be caught
when his Dad puts another coin into the slot!
