The Pecking Order: Poems 1 To 5
21 February, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
The renegade in the back with the letter 'V'
thought the alphabet catered to the likes of 'D'
so a revolt supported by his neighbour 'T'
uprooted the front runners 'A', 'B' and 'C.'
--
The balance of power is in disarray
with this game of life that we all play
as the empty sidelines will have to yield
to everyone who is crowding the playing field!
--
For a fleeting moment she had style and grace
but this chameleon is about to change her face
as fashion is fickle and just a fling
until the arrival of the next big thing!
--
In this galaxy we are not alone
so with humility you must atone
when gazing at the stars on a clear night
that someone else has us in their sight!
--
Crash test dummy found in his car!
He escaped the institution but didn't get far
and without a seatbelt how could he survive
all the other idiots who also drive!
