The Blue Condition: Poems 1 To 5
4 March, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
Trace the origin of the blues
to the very first hunter with bad news
thinking of the one that got away
and left him hungry for another day!
--
The passengers are silent while holding their fare
on a carousel that's broken in need of repair
and without perpetual motion who do we consult
when our planetary operation has come to a halt!
--
Love didn't give him a proper choice
to raise his tiny undeveloped voice
and with a life he couldn't possibly choose
this baby was born into the blues!
--
No one there to retrieve my ball
or out of habit to return my call.
You never think it will come to an end.
He wasn't just a dog he was my friend!
--
Uplifted by the buoyancy of good news
all these smiling faces offer vital clues
when photo albums are a format most people choose
because who really wants to document the blues?
