The Human Folly: Poems 1 To 5
9 March, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
Paralyzed in my seat I stare straight ahead
at a grim situation where my nerves are dead
and this limbo points towards an impending doom
when sequestered in the confines of the waiting room!
--
It was weighing heavily on the poor man's brain
and from married life he tried to quietly abstain
but her caveat provided a tempestuous strain
when household chores were his ball and chain.
--
Anxiety is never a healthy start
and with insecurity we fell apart
as bad habits continue to rule the heart
in these compulsions which lead us to Wal*Mart!
--
Certain transgressions were hard to conceal
with the abuse of power behind this wheel
and in the blink of an eye it became all too real
with our lead foot connected to the Achilles' heal!
--
His status and reputation are to blame
on a resume viewed with impervious shame
and such notoriety of a dubious name
is why Tom Foolery cannot stake his claim!
