The Doomsday Scenario: Poems 1 To 5
9 March, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
Rising oil prices are impeding their path.
An ironic context when it comes to such wrath
and the fury of their charge has come to pass.
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ran out of gas!
--
With no one here to man the cash
this is your time to make a dash
and claim that bargain without fail
at the End of the World sidewalk sale!
--
The germs of terrorism were carried away
without negotiation to seize another day
in an ominous forecast where foul winds prey.
God gave us lungs. Man made us pay.
--
The last two survivors and it's a nihilistic sign
that the human race still has time to whine
"as to what is yours and what is mine"
as they jockey for position at the head of the line.
--
Hiroshima, just a moment before.
Precious life now an open sore.
Cannot cry but will only stare
at the bottomless pit of man's despair.
