Anxious Moments: Poems 1 To 5
14 March, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
A cataclysmic event came into play
and unified all women who often say
upon waking up it's time to pray
by hoping you've avoided a bad hair day!
--
They're all aboard the salvation train
as fear of flying can be a strain
but coincidence is a devil which drives you insane.
The passengers were struck by a diving plane!
--
Intelligence reform required progressive thought
and on the campaign trail they actively sought
to overcome voter apathy and its fears
that politics is a drafty corridor between the ears!
--
He disappeared into the vapor of a lonely night.
His comeback cut short by an unforgiving slight
when the gospel was delivered but he refused to sing
the karaoke menu which made Elvis the King!
--
Mediocrity is a dubious affair
and rather apathetic if you really don't care
as higher standards are increasingly rare
when there are no precedents in which to compare.
