The Human Blueprint: Poems 1 To 5
17 March, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
With joy and sorrow you must now believe
any celebration will end when you grieve
as you enter this world there's a time you'll leave.
The bookends of life offer no reprieve!
--
After a brief dalliance with questionable taste
any paragon of reasoning was laid to waste
and your once solid reputation is now considered cheap
because you're only as good as the company you keep!
--
To determine man's compassion and ultimate fate
he invented empathy in order to relate
and all things considered it's never too late
to extend the parameters between love and hate!
--
Strengths and weaknesses shall never end
when exploring man's make-up in a permanent blend
unable to recover or take time to mend
by posing as the enemy and also your friend!
--
You can't judge a man just by his smile
until he's burdened by an unexpected trial
and even though he may wear a frown
he's still a good man when the chips are down.
