Heaven And Earth: Poems 1 To 5
24 March, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
When George arrived he provided a heavenly clue
and John was intent to see it through
when a musical reunion was the fab thing to do
but they both had to wait for the other two!
--
A family picnic was underway.
Ma and Pa sat on a bale of hay
and the sound of bagpipes continued to play
as a man was hung on this sunny day!
--
The centre of the universe was on his slate
and the bold Galileo didn't hesitate
to free his mind from a heretical state
at the sight of cat food on his plate!
--
God is sticking with his plan
and God is doing what he can
but his disgruntled angels got up and ran
from the devil in disguise known as Man!
--
In this funeral parlour I learned to play
the melodies of Stephen Foster everyday.
Those who listened would sit and pray
and the others who didn't were here to stay!
