History Lessons: Poems 1 To 5
26 March, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
General Custer plugged in and the sound traveled far.
The poor Indians became wary of his electric guitar
and the noise pollution led to resentment and scorn
resulting in one last gig at Little Big Horn!
--
Paul Revere panicked and fell off his horse.
The British advance would remain on course.
The patriotic alarm did not sound
and to this day it's still the pound!
--
Orville and Wilbur didn't take flight.
They even had trouble flying a kite
but what made the brothers so uptight
was watching that bird soar out of sight!
--
Away from the world uncomplicated and deep
is how you would describe this young man's sleep.
When he awoke with geriatric stress
Rip Van Winkle was a hormonal mess!
--
If David had given it careful thought
Goliath was a bully and he could be taught
but when you're an underdog you shouldn't get caught
with a short term memory and no slingshot!
