Color Me Blue

Paintings of my life time
Splash across the canvas of my mind
Images flash back to another place, another time
Gazing into your eyes way back then
Foolishly believing we would always be the best of friends
Yet the colors now have changed to a much darker blend
As I read the announcement crisp and clear in black and white
I realize you have moved on and live a brand new life
Intended for just the two of you
I’ll bow out now
For it is the right thing to do
Placing a new canvas upon the frame
Gathering brushes and pastel hues
I'll paint new images of a life without you
In time the blues will fade away
Accepting that life consists of shades of gray
With each stroke of the brush
Disappointments will be erased
A life filled with promise and possibility will fill this empty space
------- Author's Notes -------
Feeling a bit melancholy---reflecting on how people have come and gone in my life. It would appear change is the only constant I have been able to discover in this life time. |

A very nice and affecting use of an 'art' analogy in your poem made quite an impression on me! And what would we strive to live for if we didn't have those two words in our lives - 'promise' and 'possibility' |
