Sun Beam

Author: Dija Abernathy
The dew apon my brow does speaketh best,
That as the sun warms me my skin protest,
The fluttering pulse does double in my chest,
And in this cage of bones my heart does flutter in its nest,
Fleeting is the shadow of a cloud,
To slow my racing heart and cool my brow,
And when the shade does pass my heart beats loud,
For but a moments relief did it allow,
How i seek the running water to cool this fire,
As the heat of the sun turn body to a pyre,
A wish to tame this heat my one desire,
So from this heat my body shall not tire,
So as my feet do fallow the gurgle of a stream,
To bathe my heat tired body and remove my frown,
I fallow its magical music as if in a waking dream,
And in its cool flow i ease my body down,
To drown the heat I bathe my body full,
Though strong a current does create a pull,
To be carried away this heat like a charging bull,
Then nestle my skin to dry in velvet wool.
------- Author's Notes -------
