Pink Blossoms

I find myself in the park...
Icy paths have melted.
Bare branches are now adorned
with vibrant, sweetly scented blossoms.
Light and darker pinks display their
beauty around the park.
And I walk with the trees.
Some are standing.
Some dance.
One bends over,
back hurting,
yet proud of its' pink feathers

The air is warm.
A layer of sunlight
wraps itself around the city.
There is some humidity,
yet I welcome the change.

I remember vividly
falling
falling
suddenly
on the hard ice,
a shocking impact,
landing on my arm,
bruised and winded.

I recall those slippery walks
over frozen uneven mean ice.
And the hard snow drilling into my face
and the winter winds blowing cold
through my hat until my ears turned red
and I walked backwards...

Now the pond is full of water
and two ducks have returned from their journey.
Every day more joggers and cyclists whiz by...
and I smile.
The emerging springtime
has changed the park.
My thoughts are warmer.
Clarity is still miles away.
My marathon continues
and I practise every day
and the blossoms keep falling gently
and the lilacs start to open up soft lavender.
This is so pretty...
and I walk into my sweet contentment...
