Clarity And Fog: 5 Poems
29 May, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
These marvels of the human mind
are always here for you to find
but its cerebral context will come undone
if you do not hear the starter's gun!
--
Ironing his shirts and looking at the unmade bed
she wonders where her life has led
by trying to console her weary head
and thinking about being somewhere else instead!
--
All remnants of the truth have been shorn
with your sense of security battered and worn
and from the cocoon you have been torn.
Life goes downhill after the day you're born!
--
In this heavenly honky tonk one thing is clear
heartache courts sorrow and sorrow courts fear
as the jukebox is broken and last call is near
for a dry establishment which has run out of beer!
--
This fashionable statement will remain on file
and as a facial expression it's here for awhile
with plenty of substance and personal style.
The greatest return on investment is our smile!
