A Different Fable

Author: Karla Bardanza
Once upon a time a lion fell in love with a sheep...
In the beginning the lion just wanted her soft meat…
She would quench his thirst for a different kind of prey…
But little by little he started to love her ideas and ideologies…
Little by little she showed him she thought differently from
The rest.
She passed the first test…
He looked at her and he could not see a piece of meat anymore…
He caught himself thinking she was everything he was looking for.
Even hungry, he would sit beside her and gave some advice when
She was crying… Even in love, he pretended to be a good friend…
Deep in her heart she knew how impossible to love him was…
Different species…She was nothing but a domestic animal… He
Was a hunter, the king… His wish would be her command… She
Couldn’t get him out of her head… How wonderful it would be
To touch his mane... Loving him was so insane!
The lion decided to leave the sheep… He couldn’t stand the
Situation, he couldn’t love what he considered a toy, a prey.
So one beautiful day, he left her and went away…
His heart in pieces, her heart so dead… she was different... he
Was too… Can love survive when differences speak louder?
Once upon a time a lion fell in love with his prey…
Now he dies slowly thinking about the words he
Was afraid to say…
