This Lexicon Of Lunacy: 5 Poems
16 July, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
Sartre and Nietzsche were both high strung.
Kierkegaard screamed at the top of his lung
but the greatest philosopher had already sung
when Billy Joel reminded us "Only the good die young!"
--
Our once popular culture pointed to a trend
where we believed that fanaticism would never end
so in archaeological circles their discovery was big
with a man-made relic known as a Beatle wig!
--
In a dead-end job and out of luck
they stay up late because they're stuck
so under the nightly covers we better duck
or you may be chosen as the one they suck!
--
Speed bumps are installed and they tend to bind
the autobahn of your open mind
by impeding the limit of unrestricted speed
when quality over quantity is what you need!
--
Just when you think it can't get worse
the variables of the blues are so diverse
as we either go forward or in reverse.
Our vulnerability is a blessing and a curse!
