Footprints Of Our Lives
13 September, 2009
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
foot prints of our lives
captured in our words
rereading hopes and dreams
we travel back in time
memories of a father departed
of a grandfather just before
walking through our memories
a smile, a tear, a heart beat
a pet that pounced on grasshoppers
the last leaf that fell from a tree
the seasons change endlessly
weaving our life's tapestry
retracing places that we walked
in our memories put to note
our laughs and tears and struggles
all lead to the place we stand today
Stopping for a moment and looking back
how many footprints crossed the paths
sometimes joining with ours for a while
so glad I was able to capture them all
------- Author's Notes -------
I have been rereading many of my old poems. Reminiscing with a laugh and a tear. It's been a long journey. I now look back ahead and continue........ |
