Superwoman
17 September, 2009
Author: Korie Poleo
i love that i make people believe i'm so strong. people believe
i can take anything on in life and just have everything figured out.
i love how everyone is completely convinced how straight i am,
when in reality i'm falling apart.
i've put on a superwoman act for so long i don't know how to be me.
to show real colors an act out the way someone like me thinks..
people would think i've gone crazy.black and white is a feeling,
pouring down the walls seeping into your life.
the absence of something; color, life, emotions.
walking in the dark under the universe wondering what else is out there,
why THIS hell.
put here to suffer no matter what your givin' in this life.
eyes scream out in pain eager to be set free from the flood they've ignored.
skin shivering to stop itching. the wounds will not heal.
as society pokes at every fault, the fragile bits are the pun.
to be criticized about what you've been thru
or what you've seen. the pain will never subside.
givin' what they say one life people tear you down not even caring.
selfishness and people greed is the reason for my mask.
if they dont know, your walls cant be torn down
and you only have to hide for so many days and life slows down
one day for you to catch up and be at PEACE.
til then ill wear my mask and convince you all i'm someone different,
someone almost perfect to satisfy society.

Tarna (22.16.238.52) -- Sunday, September 20 2009, 06:24 am I think this poem speaks of something we all do.. putting on a face for society to see of strength we we feel our weakest. happy when we are darkest inside. Feeling overwhelmed by society around us judging us.. I feel this poem really states that really well.. I remember many times feeling like this.. People never remember me the way I truely felt I was.. Perhaps you too are stronger than you realize.. great writing.. I look forward to reading more.. you might like Dreamer's poem "Tough Girls" you might enjoy it. |
