Madame
9 October, 2009
Author: Karla Bardanza
She gets up at 5 every day
To serve Madame
And there she feels
Her powerlessness...
Worn out she comes
Home...
Three children in the
Damp place to feed,
Some rice, some beans,
Some water, no dreams...
The mirror reveals she
Looks older than she really is...
Her beauty...she lost the first
Time he beat up her...
Scars here and there,
Stains...unforgetable stains
Oh... they remain...
She buried her passion for life in
the slum where she lives...
Every day she kills a lion...
Every day she serves Madame...
She cooks, cleans, does the ironing,
She is almost a slave...
Chained she survives
But sometimes when
She goes to bed,
She closes her eyes
And looks inside just
To find the poems
She hides...
And she feels
She is a woman
Again.
------- Author's Notes -------
This is what happens to many women in my country.I just wish things were different.Sometimes all we need is an opportunity. |
