The Subjective Side Of Laughter: 5 Poems
16 October, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
The pretense of canned laughter was put to shame
with this startling emission and spontaneous claim
that people who were possessed with a mind of their own
could find what was funny all on their own!
---
He tried to woo her through poetry and song.
With romantic persuasion how could anything go wrong
but her fortress of resolve has always been strong
when immured by the bad breath of pesky King Kong!
---
Embittered and embattled he tried to resist
the idea that humor could actually exist
and with his insular mentality he threatened them all
when they laughed so heartily after his stumble and fall!
---
It seemed so funny at the time
that an alcoholic daze could commit this crime
but that was last night and now you're facing today
from a loss of memory on apologetic display!
---
She had to face this fear alone
and stand outside her comfort zone
coaxing nervous laughter from a primal moan
when the mirror kept surprising with a clone!
