People gather in the subway,
To catch the morning train.
Each one is lost in the routine,
Of their day to day strain.
And every day is like the last,
This is their comfort zone.
The tedious monotony
Is all they've ever known.
And even on their days of rest,
They stay within the lines.
They rarely step out of the box,
Or follow different signs.
For that is how the lonely live,
From day, to month, to year.
Alone upon the tides of time,
Enveloped by the fear.
It's fear that keeps them on the path,
And washes them away,
Into a sea of fearful souls,
Who have nothing to say.
They simply do what they've been told,
And never rock the boat.
They think it is the only way,
To keep themselves afloat.
But change can only come when one
Has the courage to speak.
And lets their voice be heard above
The clamor of the meek.
For history, time and again,
Has shown mankind the way,
It just takes one to seek the sun,
And ring in a new day.
But even if he does not see
The morning of that day,
The words he spoke before the dawn
Will never fade away.
It doesn't take a multitude,
To do what must be done.
It only takes a single soul;
Perhaps you are the one.
