The Sailboat
27 October, 2009
Author: Mark Spencer
Life is not unlike a sailboat,
Upon the mighty sea.
She searches for her fabled love,
And hopeful destiny.
She fights the storms and angry waves,
That try to pull her down.
And if she fails to ride it out,
Her hopes and dreams will drown.
But if true love should cross her bow,
The sea will heave and groan.
The only souls who fear its might
Are those who sail alone.
For such a ship is hard to sail,
When you don't have a crew.
It's easy when the sea is calm,
But a storm requires two.
And they must function as a team,
When waves begin to roll.
For two can't navigate the storm,
While fighting for control.
That's how relationships survive,
And also how they fail.
When you both try to be captain,
There's no one left to sail.
But if you recognize the truth...
A crew has equal parts,
Then you'll reach your destination,
Without breaking your hearts.
True love can weather any storm,
Silencing the thunder.
But if your love is less than true,
Life will drag you under.
