Stepping Back In
7 November, 2009
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
A walk back in time
to a place I used to be
but no longer belong
Seen from a different outlook
It was fun; don't get me wrong
but I felt somewhat out of sorts
The music had changed
but the people hadn't
Same as it had always been
time passed without me in it
Though in some ways it hadn't
change without any change
I watched the different faces
acting like the old ones
playing the same music
still the same old foolish ways
Only thing that had changed was me
I had grown in a different direction
The place I was.. was a long time ago
It's okay I no longer belong, it's really not me

Meridian (71.241.2.88) -- Saturday, November 7 2009, 05:35 pm Sounds like progression and maturity. Sometimes change is meant for the best, but then again, sometimes it isn't. But, as long as you're content with where you are now, that's all that really matters. Great poem Dreamer! |
shiloh (67.251.100.215) -- Saturday, November 7 2009, 06:53 pm your line, "The place I was... was a long time ago" struck a chord with me - hell, several chords! isn't it neat when you think back, and then take a look around, or when you go back, and take a look around... either way, you see what is no longer— sometimes it's a sad thing, sometimes just bittersweet. - peace... |
Roger Daltry (69.157.16.112) -- Saturday, November 7 2009, 07:14 pm ...well I always keep saying to Pete - sometimes I don't know WHO we really are - but you can always keep going back home! |
MAFLongfellow (209.33.17.199) -- Sunday, November 8 2009, 02:20 am Great poem that shows how one can feel when going back home or somewhere we had been that maybe had bad memories and how you can grow into a better person inspite of them. Marilyn |
