Anxiety 101: 5 Poems
8 November, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
He punctuated the silence with a scream
from inside his coffin having a bad dream
and was overcome by a primordial fear
about becoming a blood donor and volunteer!
---
The family dog did a number on your canvas of paint.
It was your favorite landscape and for that you may faint
but this untimely accident could be your calling card
so welcome to the brave world of the avant-garde!
---
As she lay in wait while perfectly still
he fumbled with his manly will
on a sonata they must both deny.
You can't play the Stradivarius on your very first try!
---
He lay beside me on the psychiatrist's couch
and for my captain I can certainly vouch
this anxious flier is seeking an accord
by trying to stay relaxed and calm on board!
---
It was a true blessing which came from Noah's ark
when the animals broke free and started their own park
as the surviving humans were left far behind
and this world zoo became one of a kind!
