Pursued The Wrong Destiny

Pursued the Wrong Destiny
Since ‘99, I pressed the oreos
Took lessons and was an eager chap, I
Vaguely remember a 12-year-old me at the piano
My late teacher, instructing me out of her one good eye
I miss her
Since her death, my dream’s been on hold
No teacher isn’t as flexible as you Ms. Simmons
No teacher is as inexpensive as you were
Or as friendly as you were
Now I sit in my room, and just watch the Yamaha sit idle
Waiting to be played
Pressed
Waiting to let out a chorus of tunes
But, because the interest isn’t there any more
I just watch the oreos
Wishing I knew where to put my hands
Wishing I knew the scales
Wishing I had interest
But, it just isn’t there anymore

barb (67.58.197.120) -- Wednesday, December 2 2009, 12:50 am You still have an interest, you just gave up. now do your thing you miss. Go go go.Try it again. You'll never know if you don't try. |
Meridian (205.188.116.135) -- Wednesday, December 2 2009, 06:56 pm Thanks Jughead and Barb. Yes, the black and white keys resemble oreos don't they? I just don't know how to play other chords, than the same ones I've been playing since I was 12. That's how much interest is there. Otherwise, if I had the will, I'd practice more to learn more chords. |
Mike (10.89.232.116) -- Monday, December 7 2009, 06:21 pm Well get your bloody will back! I'm sure Ms. Simmons will be spinning in her grave damnit. You're obviously very talented [hence the poetry], now turn your talents to something else and expand the future :D! As barb said, GO GO GO! |
barb (67.58.197.120) -- Wednesday, December 9 2009, 04:57 am You are so talented and the older we get the more willing we are to learn. You try it again you'll be surprised how easy learning is wehen we want to without being pressured into it. |
Meridian (205.188.116.135) -- Thursday, December 10 2009, 05:11 am Mike, Thank you. I laughed at the first line. You know, I'm still staring at the keys, wondering if I'll master some of them before I hit 30. But, I'll try to learn other keys than C and B flat. Impatience and frustration is so easy to have, when you don't get it right the first few times. Barb, Thank you. I guess there's nothing else to say then? You and Mike are right. Maybe if I do a me-me-me-me practice, I can put a key to it, until I learn how to go up and down the scales in harmony. |
Meridian (205.188.116.135) -- Thursday, December 10 2009, 05:12 am I can just hit autoplay and listen to the recording. |
