To Daddy Dear
25 June, 2002
Author: Anjali Thapa
Lullaby and mustard oil
Chubby cheeks, broken - wheeled buggy
It’s time I conceived
My girlfriends’ stood lucky
Daddy, I need a baby
If it’s anything I want more
It’s just got to be her
Staggering of her unsure feet
Baby frocks and fairy tales
Toothless smiles, silver- mouthed anklets
It’s time I suckled
My breasts are still barren
Darling, I need a dolly
If it’s anything I need more
It’s just got to be it
Rhythm of her sweet gibberish.
