Children And Ghosts: 5 Poems
26 December, 2009
Author: Colin Stewart
To clear the conscience of an adult mind
he returned to his childhood and tried to find
the long lost qualities of how to think clear
with those unlimited boundaries of his 5th year!
---
The Don't word:
Most mothers observe and utter one word
with such frequency and timing it seems absurd
and on our backs we received a parental pat
when she screamed "Don't do this or Don't do that!"
---
My room:
Now there's a place I can go
where my imagination continues to grow
and all my secret friends know what I know
as I close the door to put on a show!
---
Someone brushed up against my hand.
A life cut short and there you stand
with your favorite marble in your fist.
In this mysterious shadow you do exist!
---
In the dark corners of the back seat
their sunken eyes make a ghostly retreat
and this is my cab so I will continue to drive
these weary passengers who are no longer alive!
