Cosmic Wanderings
31 December, 2009
Author: Pondering Red
Year drawing to a close -
going fast -
an asteroid tumbling,
about to crash
into a rotating body
of earth-like debris -
about to crash into
my psyche.
Last days of this year -
this friendly year,
filled with routine,
some surprises,
lessons plenty.
I ache.
My mind,
deprived of stimulation,
filled with lines of movies,
reality interwoven
with editing -
sounds and music blaring.
My deepest thought
wanders into
the celestial dustings
in which we traveled,
so long ago,
before words -
before birth -
before death-
before human thought-
before you -
before me.
We were in a sea of cosmos -
floating -
through formations of planets,
through the birth and death of stars,
no fear
no fear
immersed in galaxies
millions of light years
away from now,
where darkness,
like winters longest night,
started to show
glimmers of light.
We floated through trillions of summers,
breathing dreams,
breathing the mystery
of the beauty
of opposites,
of pleasure and pain,
of dark and light.
We floated -
as the world created its history,
as we waited for our
ancestors to be born and die and born,
and as we waited for ourselves
to draw our first breaths,
and we did scream,
and breathe in our life,
wide eyed,
we were little gurus.
Now, whiteness,
outside my house -
tv on - windows covered
with moisture,
warm enough.
I feel that end of the year feeling.
I tumble into the snow,
make my own footprints,
and keep
wondering -
Have I met you yet ?

Puppet (69.181.45.166) -- Friday, January 1 2010, 12:10 pm Great poem man! Reading it, it had the cadence of original beat poetry. It read like the best of Ginsberg. Although, I find the first stanza to be less strong as the rest of the poem, because the rhyming scheme seems very out of place and awkward in relation to the more free-form body. But great work, keep it up! |
