Just Before New Years
1 January, 2010
Author: Pondering Red
In the early morning hours
on the last day of the year,
the first light seems lighter.
A zillion nano crystals of silence
surround everything.
In the early morning hours,
the sky,ever so slowly,
becomes whiteness,
with prisms of all the colours,
radiating from the skys,
surrounding everything.
In these silent hours,
a peacefulness
settles over my self,
sprinkles serenity
over the streets,
over this city,
all over this fragile earth,
as this new year unfolds.
Not everyone notices
this radiance of peace
that introduces itself
ever so softly.
Just before darkness comes,
the sky displays
a concerto of dancing sunset shades -
pinks and yellows
blend and melt into each other,
hugging in celebration.
Just after darkness descends
and surrounds the large blue moon,
children are sleeping deeply,
whispers of joy
echo into the atmosphere
and beyond.
And just before midnight,
something caresses my being.
Mother earth still trembles,
yet, just before midnight,
and just for awhile,
she smiles...
