Stranger Than Imagination: 5 Poems
6 January, 2010
Author: Colin Stewart
And don't forget to bring the shampoo:
In its luxuriant splendor is her golden hair
still so lovely and oh so fair
but for this solemn occasion you must stand brave.
The young maiden in question was exhumed from her grave!
---
Beyond commercial endorsement:
In between channels late at night
is a TV test pattern which shows the light
of an otherworldly army we've come to dread
when the living enlist as one of the dead!
---
The eternal shopper:
With neither pain or happiness I was cast aside
among those who drift after they've died
with empty feelings that will never subside
when our coupons had expired and were promptly denied!
---
The front row in the mezzanine:
Walter Cronkite just gave the news!
Man the living really suffer the blues
but for those of us who have paid our dues
we languish in eternity with nothing to lose!
---
This property is condemned:
The roof is leaking in a house without love
and the deluge continues from the heavens above
so He picks up the phone and calls Noah #2:
"My friend I am sorry I've got a new job for you!"
