This Ole Ship
25 November, 2001
Author: Don Fraser
This ole ship will sink with me or without me
I look at life
As a vast sea
It wraps around your feet
It won’t be long
Till you suffer defeat
It will soon overcome your deck
It will be oh so hard
To trek
Just hope that your not alone
You won’t be able to
Call someone on the phone
The shadows will creep in
You will wonder
Where has my life been
So fast my life went by
Oh my how time
Did fly
Now it is the eleventh hour
It’s to late for
My life to scour
The time has come
To remember that
I’m not the only one
There are others too
There is my wife
She has always been true
There are the five kids
My wife and I
Have often blown our lid’s
Now they have little tikes
Can you believe
They can ride bikes?
Kid’s grow so fast
Oh how I wish
Our cuddling did last
When this boat meet’s it’s final resting place
And it is the end
Of this fast moving pace
I can but hope
I will be remembered
As the Gran-pa that never surrendered.
