Winter White
16 February, 2010
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
looking at the fields of white
my mind wanders to another place and time
where life was still a clean palate
where anything was possible
love could still conquer all
but as the darkness falls
and the fields turn to grey
clouds of reality masking the truths
that what once was enough
now just a facade of happiness
no longer does it feel worth while to continue
the day in day out repeat
to hold fast to a dream of tomorrow
which may never come
when today is always getting lost
I look to the white turned grey
I realize all the different shades
could there be more that I am not seeing
martyr to another's cause
continuing to sacrifice self
I see the contrasting colors
white, grey, and black
must I be forced to choose
with each choice to end in hurt
or should I look to the light and begin again
