I Just Wanted

When I was a child,
I was asked what I wanted to be
when I grew up.
I said that when I grew up,
I wanted to be happy.
I just wanted to be happy.
That was a dream I had,
because I wasn't happy then,
but I could imagine what happy must be like.
So in my innocence,
I said that when I grew up,
I wanted to be happy.
I didn't understand,
how very difficult reaching my dream might be,
how sometimes things just aren't meant to be.
I am learning...
