There was a stallion, that stood in a sall chicken pen in Vancouver, Washington. This story will suprise all of you breeders and horsemen and women out there. His damn only had three foals, his sire only produced two. the horse I'm going to tell you about had a half brother and a full brother. The half brother's name was Middleground, the full brother's name was Assault. Do those names sound familure to you?

Middelground won two legs of the triple crown, and Assault did win the triple crown. Assault was bred by the King ranch of Texas, I am not sure who bred Middleground, probably my big horse breeding ranch in Kentucky.

Assault was declared sterile when retired from racing nd was sent back to Texas They tried to breed him to many mares, but none of them took. Middleground had produced a few foals, but nothing to reach his potential. That left only one. Someone had left him a stud, and named him, Postillian.

Postillian stood for a mear one hundred and fifty dollars and a live foal was guarenteed. But no one would take their mares to him, He was in such a messy place. The stud had one of his get set a track record in winning the Longacres mile. But I guess that was not good enough for the local breeders. They would rather take their mares to pretty breeding farms. Postillian never had a proven mare brought to him

I never could understand why. the King ranch of texas never brought Postillian home.
