Our Latest Anthem
16 February, 2003

What would you call
a tar speck on your sheet
squeaky clean ?
What would you call
dreaming of a shangrila
you've never seen ?
What would you call gunning down coconuts
that cry and bleed ?
What would you call teary candles, melting
that can't burn complete ?
Fate, mighty fate
Circumstances, shrewd, circumstances
devour futile coconuts and candles.
Shaky coconuts, tactless candles
surrender to ugly fate .
What would you call
emaciated rats picking holes on your sacks ?
What would you call
men making rods for their own backs ?
What would you call
tramps eating off gold plates ?
Perfect Mishaps!
Fate, dear, fate
chances, blind, chances
ignore plunders and blunders.
Lucky tramps, fearless rats
make the best of circumstances.
