Gratitude

Author: C. Scott
There are times in your life
That you are not able to handle everything on your own
Times that you need to reach out to someone...
Parents, siblings, or friends
And ask for the help that you need
It is at those times,
The times that you really need a shoulder to lean on or cry on
That you learn the true meaning of gratitude
For what would our lives be
Without those special people that surround us?
It is easy to take those people for granted
And assume that they will always be there when needed
But, as life teaches us all to often,
They are not always there
The people you thought would be there for you
Have their own problems and issues to deal with
And don't always have the time
To help when you need them
It is important to remember the people that are there for you
Thru good times and bad,
Who laugh and cry with you and rejoice and mourn with you
And show them the gratitude and appreciation
That they so richly deserve
Remember to thank them and let them know
Just how special they are to you
And that their help in times of need,
And their friendship when times are good
Is not something you take for granted...and never will
Life has a way of turning from good to bad and bad to good,
And the people that are with you thru it all
Are the ones that deserve all the love you can show them
Because they are truly the people that should matter the most
One day life will be good for you,
Everything will be "as it should be",
But it may not be for them
Remember the friendship and love they showed you in your time of need
And be gracious enough to return the favor,
Without expecting anything in return
The feeling of helping one you care so dearly for should be reward enough
