The Year Of You

The Year of you went at first slowly,
like a muddy river flows.
I spent my days pondering
if what I had done was right.
If leaving him...
was right.
I surrendered to your lust
in the beginning.
Surrendered, thinking I was weak,
but strong at the same time.
I stole way to your arms,
looking back once or twice.
All the while, you became
a man whom I could trust.
Who wouldn't break my
fragile heart.
Who wouldn't tear
my world apart.
Slowly, but surely,
I feel deep.

That was the Year of you.

Once the drama ended,
which it really never did,
I transitioned to a
different life,
a better life.
No more forbidden fruit,
no more hiding,
no more deciding.
I had already decided.
You surprised me in my
hotel room,
and as we loved each other,
you looked deep into my eyes
and asked me.
"Is this what you want?"
Is this what I want?
And in one millisecond,
I wanted it all.

That was the Year of you.

Long distance relationship
doesn't even describe it.
The difficulty,
the sadness when you
are not around me.
The weekends of pure joy
when you are.
I almost can't take it,
but I can.
For you, I can.
I always will,
I always will.

That was the Year of you.

This is my life...with you.
